We’re a classic Big Band, featuring five saxophones (alto, tenor and baritone), four trumpets, four trombones, and a rhythm section of drums, bass, guitar and piano.

There’s no such thing as a “typical” member. Our musicians come from a wide range of backgrounds and ability levels, and everyone is made very welcome. There’s no need to feel hesitant about coming along—and we’d especially love to see more women in the band, particularly trombonists!

While some of our charts can be challenging, we don’t require specific grades or formal qualifications—just a solid ability to read music.

Although we don’t currently have permanent vacancies, players are warmly invited to attend a no-obligation taster session at one of our weekly rehearsals (subject to space within each section). From time to time, there may also be opportunities to perform with the band as they arise.
